One thing we've heard plenty of times at Lastingham Country Lodge is that our coffee is the best our guests have ever tasted, and we completely agree. Best of all, our coffee is roasted right here in the KZN Midlands, and if you're wondering what to do on the Midlands Meander, we'd recommend a visit to the Terbodore coffee roastery.
Terbodore began in 2004, and while those who have visited Franschhoek may be familiar with the Terbodore roastery there, their KZN Midlands branch was where the brand began, with their headquarters still situated in Curry's Post.
From 2004 to 2009, Terbodore quietly produced coffee on the premises, supplying their artisan roast coffee beans to the restaurants and accommodation in the surrounding KZN Midlands. Since then, they have opened a restaurant, serving coffee and light meals to Midlands visitors from Thursdays to Mondays each week.
Their breakfast menu boasts such items as "potato rosti in a pan" with bacon, boerewors, fried eggs and tomatoes, while their lunch menu ranges from tagines to pies to vegetable casseroles, all made from local produce.
The style of the restaurant matches their distinctive branding and design, with a warm, earthy natural feel, with luxurious dark colours and tasteful highlights.
Their great dane, Sultant, is also a very memorable feature of both the roastery and the brand, instantly recognisable on their packaging.
The Terbodore roastery and restaurant is well worth a visit and only a short distance from Lastingham Country Lodge. You can purchase their full range of coffees, including a their coffee pods for Nespresso machine owners.
For our visitors who enjoyed our coffee but didn't get a chance to pay Terbodore a visit, you can also order their coffee and merchandise from their online store.
